Event Details

Let’s Talk About It, a book discussion series project of Oklahoma Humanities. Let’s Talk About It is designed to encourage participants to read and discuss literature based on a central theme.

The theme is The Oklahoma Experience: Re-Visions, featuring five Oklahoma authors writing about the Oklahoma experience.

In October, we will discuss “Red Dirt: Growing Up Okie” by Rpxamme Dimbar-Ortiz. Literary expert, Dr. Joseph Farmer will begin the program with a 30-40 minute talk, offering a deeper understanding of the text, the author, and the themes related to the book, allowing readers to gain new insight regarding the book before the discussion unfolds. A light dinner will be provided. Programs are free and open to all. Books may be picked up at the library.

Books, services, and other materials for this series are provided by Let’s Talk About It, a project of Oklahoma Humanities. Generous funding and support for this series was provided by Kirkpatrick Family Fund, McCasland Foundation, Oklahoma City Community Foundation, and Oklahoma City University. Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in these programs do not necessarily represent those of Oklahoma Humanities.
